What is User Experience Design?

User experience (UX) design is the process of creating products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users. This involves the design of the entire process of acquiring and integrating the product, including aspects of branding, design, usability and function.

Where did the term "User Experience Design" come from?

The term "user experience" was coined by Don Norman in the early 1990s. Norman, a cognitive scientist, was working at Apple at the time, and he was looking for a way to describe the overall experience a person has when using a product. He defined UX as "all aspects of the end-user's interaction with the company, its services, and its products." The field of UX design has its roots in human-computer interaction, a field that emerged in the 1980s. HCI is concerned with the design, evaluation, and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them.

How is "User Experience Design" used today?

Today, UX design is a critical part of the development process for any product or service. A well-designed UX can make a product easy to use and enjoyable, while a poorly designed UX can make it frustrating and difficult to use. UX designers use a variety of tools and techniques to create effective experiences, including user research, personas, and usability testing. The field is constantly evolving, with new technologies and platforms emerging all the time.
